Will They Also Apologise For Calling Muslims Extremists And Taliban?

Hindus are viralling the message below. Will they also apologise for calling Muslims from Umno and PAS who finally wish to unite — after 68 years of animosity — ‘extremists’ and ‘Taliban’? The inference is that Muslims who wish to unite are pariahs.

But what I do not understand is why do they feel humiliated about the white chalk on their forehead? It does not make sense.

Utusan insists sedition charge against Penang rep will curb ‘extremism’

KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 — Umno-controlled Mingguan Malaysia questioned today the Attorney-General’s delay in pressing a sedition charge against DAP lawmaker R.S.N Rayer over his “celaka Umno” (damn Umno) remark, arguing that failure to act will fuel greater “extremism”.

Writing under the pseudonym Awang Selamat, the editors of the Malay-language newspaper said they hoped the charge against the Seri Delima assemblyman — who uttered the words “celaka Umno” in the Penang state legislative assembly last month — was merely delayed, and not dropped.

“To Awang, the root of extremism must be dealt with first,” Awang Selamat wrote in the weekend edition of Utusan Malaysia.

“If not, it will give the wrong signal to Malaysians. Failure to take action against Rayer will fuel greater extremism. We should not let embers turn into flames,” they added.

A number of Umno members claim Rayer’s remark to be seditious and an insult to the Malay-Muslim community, a view echoed by Awang Selamat today.

Pakatan Rakyat lawmakers, and even Umno minister Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan, hold dissenting views, saying that Rayer’s remark, while offensive, was not seditious.

The dissenters note that Articles 63 and 72 of the Federal Constitution confer immunity on lawmakers for remarks made in the legislative assembly, except on issues touching human rights, the special position of the Malays, the monarchy and the national language, stressing that the Malay political party does not fall into any of the exceptions.

Rayer was arrested on May 18 and due to be charged with sedition last Thursday, but the Attorney-General deferred the case to another date.

The Penang state assemblyman’s controversial “celaka Umno” remark had sparked protests by Umno Youth members who had demonstrated and then invaded the august hall on May 21.

Fifteen men were charged last Thursday under section 448 of the Penal Code for house trespass.
