Guan Eng Attacks Malay Unity On The Pretence Of Attacking PAS

(FMT) – DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng today criticised PAS for deviating from a moderate party to adopting extremism and targeting non-Muslims for its political gain, a day after Umno called for a “unity government” in four states both parties are in power.

The Bagan MP said non-Muslims had shown no support for PAS and the party is a mere “little puppet” of Umno.

“No non-Muslims or non-Malays in the peninsula or Sabah or Sarawak want the federal government to be run like Kelantan and Terengganu,” said Lim in a statement, referring to the PAS administration in the two states.

Yesterday, acting Umno president Mohamad Hasan said Umno and PAS were in talks over a “unity government” in Kelantan, Pahang, Terengganu and Perlis but PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad said he had no knowledge of such plans.

Lim went on to say that the non-Muslim and non-Malay communities had become PAS and Umno’s “scapegoats” for problems in Malaysia.

In the past, PAS had questioned the appointment of non-Muslims as ministers and key government positions by the Pakatan Harapan government.

Lim also congratulated PAS for recruiting MCA and MIC to support its political agenda.
