Najib Walked Into An Inquisition With His Eyes Closed

Najib is facing many charges. He must go to court and rip the Prosecution’s case to shreds. And unless the court says Najib is guilty, then he has to be presumed to be innocent according to the spirit of Pakatan Harapan’s ‘Rule of Law’ doctrine. But then even if the court says Najib is not guilty, the Pakatan Harapan people will not accept that and will still insist Najib is guilty.

Do you believe that God exists? Do you believe that Jesus is the Son of God? Do you believe that the Bible is the Word of God?

If you answer ‘no’ to all or to one of the above during an inquisition you would be pronounced a heretic and would be sentenced to death. An inquisition is not about evidence to support your belief. It is about whether you believe or not. And a ‘no’ answer is punished with death.

Actually, the onus is on those who believe in the existence of God to prove that God does exist. Since you, and not me, are making a claim regarding God’s existence, then it is your job to prove the existence of God, not my job to prove that God does not exist.

And the same goes for the belief that Jesus is the Son of God. How do you know that Jesus is the Son of God? Because the Books of the New Testament say so? Did Jesus write those Books? If not, then who wrote those Books? Has Paul ever met Jesus? How then does Paul know what Jesus said if he never met Jesus other than the voices he heard in his head? If today people claim they hear voices in their heads would they not be locked up?

The foundation of Christianity is the belief in the crucifixion and the resurrection and this belief is based on faith and not evidence

And that is why I do not believe in Christianity, Jesus or the Bible. It is because no one can come forward with evidence to support their beliefs. In fact, they cannot even show us evidence that Jesus is not a myth — or whether there is a historical Jesus and a mythical Jesus and both have been mistakenly taken as one and the same.

That, is the phenomena called faith and belief. When belief is supported with evidence we call it fact but when belief lacks evidence we call it faith. So, in essence, faith is the opposite of fact and faith lacks evidence.

The same goes with the belief that Najib Tun Razak stole billions of 1MDB’s money and that he is behind (or involved in) three murders. If is a belief that has been trumpeted for so many years that that belief has now turned into a sort of religion.

Pakatan Harapan supporters do not wish for facts and evidence to interfere with their beliefs

Just as you cannot turn people from their belief in Jesus and the Bible, you also cannot turn people from their belief that Najib stole billions of 1MDB’s money and that he is somehow linked to three murders.

Najib has to accept this reality and not continue to try to convince people of his innocence. Those who believe Najib is guilty of stealing billions of 1MDB’s money and that he is behind three murders will not change their belief even if Najib does 100 interviews.

This issue has gone beyond talk-shows and interviews. It is now a matter before the courts. In talk-shows and interviews, Najib will be asked to show evidence of his innocence (like what Tun Dr Mahathir asked him to do) while, in court, the Prosecution needs to show evidence to prove Najib’s guilt.

Najib faced an inquisition dressed up as an Aljazeera interview and in an inquisition you are already presumed guilty 

What Najib faced yesterday in his Aljazeera interview was an inquisition. They wanted to crucify Najib (and in an inquisition they have already decided you are guilty and they just want you to admit with your own mouth that you are guilty).

The Aljazeera interview was not meant to help Najib clear his name. It was meant to prove to the world that Najib is guilty of all the allegations against him. It was a ‘you are guilty, now prove your innocence’ session.

Anwar Ibrahim and Mahathir also faced the same thing. They crucified Anwar and Mahathir and made them look bad. Anwar could not answer a simple question as to whether he is gay while Mahathir could not answer the question regarding the allegations of corruption against him.

In the interview Anwar was asked three times whether he is gay and he refused to say ‘yes’ or ‘no’

When asked, three times, whether he is gay, Anwar refused to say either ‘yes’ or ‘no’. When asked about the allegations of corruption against him, Mahathir replied he has never been charged for any corrupt act (and since he was never charged that means he is not corrupt).

I suppose since Chin Peng was never tried for any terrorist act that means he was not a CT (Communist Terrorist) and never killed anyone.

The Prosecution needs to prove that Najib is guilty of all the charges against him. Najib just needs to raise reasonable doubt. That should be the focus and the task ahead. Does Najib have evidence to prove his innocence? If he does then the Prosecution’s case collapses and Najib walks free.

Regarding the three murders that they say Najib was involved in, it is now up to the IGP to gather the evidence and to send it to the AG to decide whether to arrest and charge Najib for these murders.

Gopal Sri Ram will need to prove with tangible evidence and not mere hearsay that Najib is guilty

Unless they arrest and charge Najib for three murders, I will insist he is not guilty. I will also insist Najib is not guilty because this was what the one-time Director of the Special Branch personally told me. And they are anti-Najib so why would they tell me Najib is not guilty of murder unless he is not guilty?

Nevertheless, even if the IGP or AG announces that Najib is not guilty of three murders, the Pakatan Harapan supporters will not believe it and will still believe he is guilty of murder. So why go before Aljazeera to try to clear your name when the result will be zero?

50 tahun yang lalu (1 Februari 1968), akhbar New York Times memaparkan satu gambar yang menarik perhatian sedunia. Gambar ini menjadi antara gambar yang paling ikonik tentang Perang Vietnam. Jurugambar yang menangkap gambar tersebut, Eddie Adams memenangi Hadiah Pulitzer yang merupakan hadiah paling berprestij dalam dunia kewartawanan US.

Gambar ini menunjukkan seorang pegawai polis Vietnam Selatan (Nguyen Ngoc Loan) sedang menembak seorang anggota Viet Cong (Nguyen Van Lem) di kepalanya. Ketika itu, US memberi bantuan kepada Vietnam Selatan untuk memerangi Viet Cong yang merupakan gerila komunis.

Gambar ini menimbulkan kemarahan orang ramai. Reaksi orang ramai adalah "kejamnya!" "jahatnya Vietnam Selatan!" "zalimnya tindakan mereka terhadap orang awam!" "macam ini kah negara yang kita sokong?" Gambar ini menjadi antara pemangkin kepada sentimen anti-Perang Vietnam di kalangan orang US, dan US akhirnya berundur daripada Vietnam pada tahun 1973. 

Tapi gambar itu tidak menceritakan kejadian sebenar disebalik tindakan menembak itu: Lem telah membunuh sahabat baik dan pegawai bawahan Loan iaitu Nguyen Tuan serta sekeluarganya, termasuk isterinya, 6 anaknya dan ibunya yang berumur 80 tahun. Kesemuanya dibunuh dengan cara kejam iaitu dengan memotong leher. Selepas Lem ditangkap, Loan memilih untuk membunuh Lem dengan tangan sendiri untuk membalas dendam bagi Tuan. Apa yang gagal ditangkap oleh kamera Adams ialah air mata Loan ketika mengenang pengorbanan sahabatnya.

Namun satu dunia telah menghukum Loan sebagai "penjahat" dan "penjenayah perang". Selepas Vietnam Selatan ditawan, Loan berhijrah ke US. Di situ beliau menerima pelbagai diskriminasi dan gangguan akibat daripada buruk sangka orang ramai. 

Selepas mengetahui cerita yang sebenar, Adams cukup kesal dengan tindakannya. Adams telah memohon maaf dengan Loan sebelum Loan meninggal dunia pada tahun 1998. Dalam eulogi yang ditulis oleh Adam untuk Loan dalam majalah Time, Adams telah mengatakan bahawa:

"Two people died in that photograph: the recipient of the bullet and and General Nguyen Ngoc Loan. The general killed the Viet Cong. I killed the general with my camera". 

Adams turut berpesan kepada orang ramai:

"Photographs do lie, even without manipulation. They are only half-truths. What the photograph didn’t say was, what would you if you were the general at that time and place on that hot day…"

Adams telah menzalimi Loan dengan satu gambar yang tidak menjelaskan konteks. Loan disalahfaham dan dijatuh hukum oleh pendapat umum. Tidakkah kita mengambil iktibar bahawa betapa banyak gambar yang sengaja disebarkan di media cetak dan media sosial adalah bertujuan untuk menabur fitnah dan mencipta persepsi buruk? Adakah kita benar-benar meneliti konteks disebalik setiap gambar tersebut sebelum menghukum?

Adams bertuah kerana sempat memohon maaf dari Loan. Adakah kita akan diberi peluang yang sama?

Tun Dr Fitnah

Mahathir just issued a statement to attack MCA today. As usual, he recycles his allegations and laces it with lots of lies. Let's count these lies.

Tun Dr M's statement in italics and my replies in blue:

1. The MCA President has expressed his disgust at what he calls the lack of principle on the part of DAP.
2. He seems to think that DAP’s working together with me is all wrong.

LSS: Mahathir seems to have completely misunderstood the "disgust" from MCA. It was not aimed at Mahathir but rather at DAP.

MCA had taken issue with DAP's lack of principles as DAP had accused Mahathir of all sorts of mismanagement, racism, scandals and abuse for 22 years but suddenly, the DAP Secretary General says Tun M has managed the country well for 22 years and has not resorted to racist dirty tactics.

This disgust is at the unbelievable flip-flop of DAP which means that DAP had been lying to Malaysians for 22 years if those allegations against Tun M is no longer true.

THIS IS LIE NUMBER 1.

3. But MCA’s working together with a known kleptocrat who has stolen billions of Ringgit is the worst example of a lack of principle. Or is the MCA unaware of what Najib has done to UMNO, BN and the nation. If he is not, I would like to tell him that under Najib Malaysia has been classified as one of the ten most corrupt country in the world.

LSS: This is a lie. Where was it that said Malaysia is one of the ten most corrupt country in the world? Malaysia is listed in the top 3rd (54th out of 167 countries) in terms of least corrupt in Transparency International's Corruption Perception Index.

THIS IS LIE NUMBER 2.

4. The American Dept. of Justice has reported that Najib, who is Malaysian Official 1 (as confirmed by Cabinet Minister Abdul Rahman Dahlan), has stolen billions of Ringgit of the Malaysian people’s money, and 2.6 billion Ringgit of this is in Najib’s personal bank account. Of course the MCA thinks this is okay. That is the MCA’s principle which it must cling to. It must be proud that it is supporting Najib who is involved in the world’s biggest fund case as alleged by the Department of Justice.

LSS: Again Tun Mahathir is lying. the American Dept of Justice did not report that Najib stole money. In fact, like the dozens of unnamed individuals in the suit, MO1 is not a party of the civil suit of the USA's DOJ kleptoracy - that is exactly why it was MO1 listed and not Najib Razak.

Among those with code-names include:

1MDB OFFICER 1, 1MDB OFFICER 2, 1MDB OFFICER 3, PETROSAUDI CEO, PETROSAUDI CO-FOUNDER, 1MDB’s Chief Financial Officer, Hollywood Actor 1, SINGAPORE BANKER 1, LOW EMI Partner, Goldman Managing Director, Chairman of IPIC

The reason why MALAYSIAN OFFICIAL 1 is not named is the same as why those other people are not named.

Because they are not the subjects of the suit.

Is that so hard to understand?

THIS IS LIE NUMBER 3.

5. Now Najib considers the contest is between UMNO and DAP. This means Najib believes in racism because to him Malaysian politics is about Malays versus Chinese. Towards that end he has redrawn constitutional boundaries to separate Malays from Chinese.

LSS: What does Tun Mahathir mean when he says this contest is between UMNO and DAP is equal to racism? Is Tun Mahathir now saying that DAP is a Chinese-only party?

And just because BN, the party with the most number of seats, is saying that the battle is now agaisnt DAP, the party with the second most number of seats, does this mean that Najib said the battle is now Malays versus Chinese? Najib never said that. 

What is wrong with the party with the most number of seats declaring that the party with the second most number of seats is their main rival? Isn't that logical and expected?

THIS IS LIE NUMBER 4.

6. Perhaps this accords with MCA as an ethnic Chinese Party. DAP is a multi-racial party which supports all the provisions of the Malaysian Constitution.

LSS: But in just the point above, Tun M claimed that DAP is a Chinese-only party and now he says DAP is multi-racial?

Please be consistent lah.

7. Accordingly the DAP celebration of its 50th anniversary was conducted completely in the national language. 

LSS: This is a lie. Lim Guan Eng himself broke into Mandarin in the middle of his pengullungan speech. The video of the speech proves this. Listen to 7 minutes 16 seconds of Guan Eng's speech. 

Does this sound like our national language to you? 

THIS IS LIE NUMBER 5.

8. The DAP Secretary General categorically stated in his speech that DAP had never asked to have a Chinese Prime Minister in answer to Najib’s claim that if the DAP wins the next election Kit Siang would be P.M. DAP’s choice is Anwar Ibrahim, a non-Chinese.

LSS: Again, Tun Mahahir is lying. Najib had never said that if DAP wins, Kit Siang would be PM. When did Najib say this? It certainly was not said in the recent UMNO General Assembly.

THIS IS LIE NUMBER 6.

Muhyiddin had also confirmed that DAP has given their consent and agreement to him that a Malay will be PM if Pakatan wins.

9. MCA obviously supports Najib’s racist play by saying that if UMNO loses to DAP, there would be a Chinese as PM., or maybe MCA just wants to bodek Najib, principle be damned.

LSS: MCA also never said this. Mahathir is lying again. Why would MCA even object to having a Chinese as PM? It defies logic! Please lah, Mahathir.

THIS IS LIE NUMBER 7.

10. MCA should not talk about principle as it is just opportunistic. It is not the MCA of Tun Tan Cheng Lock. It is just an appendage of Najib’s racist UMNO now.

LSS: Fuhh.. Najib's racist UMNO. Let's hear what Mahathir says about racism and extremists.

And isn't DAP the party whose main ceramah expert told tens of thousands of voters to use a Malay to screw their own Malays and that this would be the most enjoyable show of a lifetime to watch?

11. I am with DAP and the other opposition parties because I don’t want to be associated with Najib and his kleptocratic government. Until he can prove beyond reasonable doubt he did not steal 1MDB money, I will still say he has stolen money from the people of Malaysia.

LSS: When Tun M withdrew support for Najib in Aug 2014, it was never about 1MDB. In fact, the top reason Tun M listed down why he withdrew support was that Najib had abolished ISA which Tun M does not agree with. In fact, Tun M first attacked UMNO in October 2013 when his son lost in the party elections for vice-president. 

Nevertheless, we congratulate Tun M's son for now being deputy president for his his new party where Tun M himself is the Chairman.

So Mahathir lied again saying he withdrew support for Najib because of 1MDB.

THIS IS LIE NUMBER 8.

12. For MCA everything that Najib has done is okay. So stay with him. And that means MCA has no principle. DAP has upheld its principle to have clean election, to have democracy and to fight for a clean Government. MCA is as kleptocratic as Najib.

LSS: DAP Clean Government? Wait, isn't the DAP Secretary General himself the one who has to spend 34 days in court next year to fight two corruption charges?

Upheld principle? As in point 2 above where 22 years of DAP's continued allegations against Tun Mahathir has now vanished because DAP now says Mahathir has managed the country and economy well for 22 years?

What about the principles where a civil servant who is formally charged with corruption should step down from public office until they are cleared by the courts? 

 
But Guan Eng is still Chief Minister and refuses to resign. That is principle?

What about the party, when they were in alliance with PAS, went all over to convince the Chinese to accept Hudud but then later on attacked PAS for wanting to implement Hudud even though DAP had given a secret written agreement signed by the DAP Secretary General himself that PAS has the right to pursue an Islamic state govt?

That is also "principles"? No way.

DAP has no principles as what Mahathir said.

THIS IS LIE NUMBER 9.

13. Shame on you MCA.
LSS: Shame on you Mahathir, for repeatedly lying and twisting.

NINE CLEAR LIES in just one 13 point statement from Mahathir.

Please don't let your legacy be known as Tun Dr Fitnah.

Did Lim Guan Eng really go to jail for defending a Malay girl?

A common line used by DAP is that "Lim Guan Eng went to jail for defending a Malay girl who was raped".

Unfortunately, it is not exactly all true - not even by half. Maybe 10% true.

Did you know that Lim Kit Siang and Lim Guan Eng used to hate the guts of Gopal Sri Ram, Anwar's lead counsel in the Sodomy II final appeal?

This is what actual happened.

In 1997, Lim Guan Eng (LGE) was sentenced by the Malacca high court for maliciously printing false news under the Printing Press and Publications Act 1984 and under the Sedition Act 1948.

LGE was found to have been guilty of spreading allegations that the then Melaka Chief Minister Rahim Tamby Chik had raped an under-aged girl.

His original sentence was just a fine of maximum RM5,000 fine for the sedition charge and RM10,000 fine for "false news" charge  but no jail term.

At this point, LGE could have paid the RM10k fine now and need not go to jail. But to do so would mean he would be barred from contesting for 5 years and more importantly, be seen as lying which would destroy his and DAP's reputation.

Thus he did not pay the fine and choose to appeal.

The case then went to the Court of Appeals.

In 1998, the Court of Appeals' head Judge Gopal Sri Ram then said "It is time that the court sends a clear message that it cannot tolerate any attack on the judiciary" 

(Interestingly, years later Gopal Sri Ram was also the head counsel for Anwar Ibrahim in the Sodomy II Federal court case in early 2015 - which he lost and Anwar went to jail.)

Probably unhappy at the alleged contempt of how LGE and his lawyers defended the case, Judge Gopal thus increased the sentence from the total RM15,000 fine to 36 months in jail.

And thus LGE went to jail. But not for 36 months.

After a series of appeals, Lim was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment. He was, however, released after 12 months on 25 August 1999.

Therefore LGE went to jail for distributing false news and sedition for using the case of Rahim Tamby Chik to incite the people.

But was the rape case real and should Lim Guan Eng have pursued it then?

DAP continued to paint this picture of Lim Guan Eng being in jail because he defended a Malay girl who was raped.

Thus Rahim Tamby Chik then sued DAP for defamation which he won and this is what happened - as explained by DAP in their Oct 21, 2003 statement.

Former Malacca Chief Minister, Tan Sri Rahim Tamby Chik this morning withdrew his defamation suit against the DAP in connection with the DAP book “Lim Guan Eng – MP in Jail” and the Sympathy, Support and Solidarity with Lim Guan Eng Poster after DAP defence counsel Karpal Singh read out the following statement by and on behalf of the DAP. There was no order as to costs in the consent settlement.
Statement by the Democratic Action Party 

We, the Democratic Action Party, hereby refer to the Book published by us entitled “Lim Guan Eng – MP in Jail” (“Book”) and to the Poster (“Poster”) campaign which we embarked on relating to the Plaintiff, Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Bin Datuk Tamby Chik, and we hereby make the following statements: 

(1) We must stress we made the allegations relating to Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Bin Datuk Tamby Chik contained in the Book and Poster as we believed them to be true at the material time based on the statements made by Pendek binti Amhad to Mr Lim Guan Eng and by Noryati Binti Mohamad Yusop and ACP Mok at the High Court, Melaka, in Criminal Trial Nos: 45-2-1995 and 45-3-1995 (Pendakwa Raya v Lim Guan Eng). 

(2) However, in view of subsequent events, in particular
a) the retraction of the allegations by Noryati Binti Mohamad Yusop under oath by way of a Statutory Declaration; and
b) the fact that similar allegations made by Time Magazine and Asiaweek have resulted in an apology being given to Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Bin Datuk Tamby Chik;
We now realize that the basis for the allegations we made against Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Bin Datuk Tamby Chik in the Book and Poster no longer exists and in view of this, the said allegations are wholly unfounded. 

(3) Accordingly we acknowledge that these unfortunate events have caused all parties concerned, including Tan Sri Abdul Rahim Bin Datuk Tamby Chik and family, great distress and anguish.

So it was clear that Asiaweek and Time Magazine had apologized to Rahim Tamby Chik.

And DAP also withdrew the rape allegation and read out the statement in open court.

Thus, subsequent events show that LGE was indeed wrong to spread false news and incite the people with that rape allegation (which was eventually withdrawn and various parties apologized for it) - thus the court conviction at that time was proven correct.

However, whether this deserved 12 months in jail instead of just a fine or not is another matter but that was for the courts and judge to decide.

Jailed for contempt of court and spreading false news
LGE did not go to jail for defending a Malay girl who was raped (since this allegation no longer exist) but for distributing false news and inciting the people based on a faulty allegation.

Do you really think he was "defending the girl" or he was trying to make it into a political issue to score votes because it had links to a BN politician?

Ask yourself this:

There are many Malay girls who got into trouble before this and after this. How many of these girls has LGE defended?  

None.

Of course LGE, being a DAP politician would use whatever issue that they have at that time to fight the government - but unfortunately for them, this issue was later proven to be wholly unfounded in the eyes of the law and admitted to by DAP themselves in their open court statement.

But of course, DAP will continue to spread this "proud claim" that Lim Guan Eng went to jail for defending a Malay girl although it is not entirely correct.

Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak hit the nail on the head when he said Malaysia is facing an epidemic of fake news. Najib attributed this to Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who Najib said keeps alleging that Malaysia is amongst the top ten most corrupt countries in the world. Najib said, according to Transparency International’s latest ranking, Malaysia is among the least corrupt countries, ranking 55th out of 176.

“He has tried every method to spread fake news to any available media outlets willing to report his story for his own selfish political gain. When challenged to produce any evidence on his allegations, he is unable to do so,” said Najib.

Najib added, “Another claim is that Malaysia is about to go bankrupt but the World Bank has stated that the nation’s economy is progressing from a position of strength. Also, he has claimed that Malaysia is in danger of being under a dictatorship. Even his own colleague called him a dictator only last week.”
